Juan Gabriel Foundation

It’s the people who make places Juan Gabriel

About the Foundation

The Juan Gabriel Foundation, made up of the Aguilera family, is a way to continue the altruistic work that was always present in the life and work of Alberto Aguilera Valadez, Juan Gabriel.
His story—marked by resilience, the drive to move forward, and the determination to fulfill his dream of singing and composing—began on Avenida Juárez, one of the main arteries that give life to Ciudad Juárez.

Alberto Aguilera watched Juan Gabriel be born on this border, as he took his first artistic steps here. Grateful to the people who supported him, and with a sensitivity that went beyond music alone, he always kept in mind helping others and never forgot his people: the people of Juárez.

Since its opening, the Juan Gabriel Museum has welcomed free of charge more than 300 people belonging to various social groups and universities, with the Foundation absorbing to date more than $80,000.00 MXN, with the firm conviction that, through the enjoyment and understanding of Juan Gabriel’s philosophy of life and work, bridges of inspiration and connection are built that positively impact the stories of each of our visitors.

On May 7, 2025, Mtra. Elvira Urrutia Castro, General Director of the Municipal Institute for Women of Ciudad Juárez (IMM), presented a recognition to the Juan Gabriel Foundation for the joint efforts made in favor of the women served by the institute.

Ciudad Juárez is recognized for its migration, medical, and business tourism, as well as for its bicultural character, being a border city with El Paso, Texas, in the United States. One of Juan Gabriel’s homes, now converted into a museum and located in a historic house acquired by the artist in 1984 on one of Ciudad Juárez’s main avenues, has been visited over the years by thousands of fans who come exclusively to see it from various parts of Mexico and different countries around the world.

With an identity that Juan Gabriel described in several of his songs by recognizing the people of Juárez as noble, hard-working, and honest, the Juan Gabriel Museum has been positioning itself as an entertainment destination, receiving more than 20,000 visitors in just nine months since its opening in August 2024. This has had a positive impact on the local economy.
At the Juan Gabriel Foundation, the goal is for fans and tourists to visit Juárez and experience what this border city truly is—so beautifully described by Juan Gabriel in several of his songs, such as: ¡Arriba Juárez!, Ciudad Juárez es la n# 1, La Frontera, Eternamente Agradecido, El Noa Noa, ¡Ven a Juárez, pues!, among others.
With the momentum behind the creation of the Juan Gabriel District, which involves the museum’s neighbors; the contribution to increasing the local economy; the support of Juárez talent through Juárez Juangabrielísimo in collaboration with the Municipal Government of Ciudad Juárez; and with the firm conviction that art and music can contribute to raising awareness and visibility of various social groups, the Juan Gabriel Foundation collaborates and invites other stakeholders to join efforts so that fans, tourists, and everyone who visits Ciudad Juárez can discover the joyful, strong, hard-working, and noble border city that Juan Gabriel knew and always carried in his heart.
